Roll Forming in the Second Generation – Since 1987 with a Vision for the Future

|

With Maximilian Sedlmaier as Managing Director, we combine past experience and forward-thinking innovation.

Roll forming is our Passion!

data M Sheet Metal Solutions GmbH was founded in 1987 by Dipl.-Ing. Albert Sedlmaier as a spin-off from the Technical University of Munich. Since then, we have specialized in advanced software solutions and engineering services to support the roll forming manufacturing process.

Our COPRA products have become indispensable in the roll forming industry.

Innovation in our DNA

Research and development are deeply embedded in our DNA. Our national and international customers can continue to rely on us as a dependable partner. With Dipl.-Ing. Maximilian Sedlmaier as the Managing Director, the second generation is now leading our successful and innovative family business.

Maximilian Sedlmaier brings fresh ideas and new approaches to our well-established company and leads by considering both past experience and future demands.

A key area of our innovation is participating in groundbreaking research projects - as for example:

GREAT: The goal of the GREAT collaborative project is to minimize the climate impact resulting from the structure of the new Airbus short- and medium-haul aircraft NSA as well as existing metallic aircrafts.

The aim is to pool the know-how and expertise of the involved partners and implement production processes for manufacturing weight-reduced structural components. With CAE tools that will be newly developed by data M within this framework, the production process will be secured. A specific working goal is to solidify and further develop our 3D roll forming expertise in the aviation industry up to the point of application in serial production.

Within the “Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action” joint project FlexHyBat, among other things, the technological limits as well as the design freedom of 3D roll-formed profiles with respect to the geometry when processing different ultra-high-strength steel grades and low sheet thicknesses have been investigated. To achieve these goals, new CAE tools were required, such as a 3D simulation pre-processor for automatic simulation model building considering the kinematics of the 3D roll forming line. Thus, the market-leading process planning and tool design software COPRA could also be extended for the application of profiles with variable cross sections.

From Research to Market

Anyone who wants to learn more about innovations making it into our new COPRA releases and what our experts are currently working on, is warmly invited to join our next COPRA Virtual Conference. We look forward to engaging with you.
